Folsom pizza has become a philosophical question, and I'm here to test the depths of your loyalty. We've got riverfront brewhouses pouring cold lagers, arcades where toddlers stage high-stakes negotiations over prize tickets, and a gelato shop that might just fix whatever a bad slice broke.

I ate my way from Sac Pizza Company's fluffy-crisp crust to Strobelli's cheesy pizza bowl, a dish that has no business touching a plate. The sushi place on Sutter Street will survive.

This is a town that takes its flour seriously. So here's the breakdown, sorted from ironclad standards to places where I should have just ordered the wings.

Highlights
Build your perfect pie
Fresh ingredients, generous portions
Fluffy-crisp crust mastery
Affordable beer and wings
Quick bites, easy budget

I started at Sacramento Pizza Company because I'm cheap and they advertise an easy budget. The build-your-own-pie angle is a smooth move, but the real story is that crust. It has this fluffy-crisp secret that makes you wonder why everyone else bothers. Portions are not shy. The beer is affordable, the wings are workmanlike. This is the utilitarian, honest slice of Folsom. No drama, no pretension. Just a competent kitchen firing on all cylinders. I appreciate the efficiency.

Highlights
Attentive staff and great drinks
Crostini appetizer a clear favorite
Beautiful space with quick service
Handy recommendations from Kevin
Fast food despite busy nights

Fiori operates on a different level of service. The place was packed, yet our server, Kevin, materialized exactly when needed with sharp recommendations. The crostini appetizer is a clear favorite for a reason; I'd return just for that. The space is genuinely beautiful, and the whole operation moves with a swiftness that borders on magical. Even with a full house, the kitchen was quick. It feels like the whole town knows this is a dependable bet. The drinks are strong, too.

Great pizza, familiar favorites
Oak-shaded patio dining
Fresh food, crispy fries
Laid-back riverfront atmosphere
Efficient, friendly service

Frends Brewhouse sits along the river and plays familiar hits. This is not a place for experiments. It's a place for a reliable slice and some surprisingly crisp fries on the patio. The oak-shaded seating is a genuine pleasure on a hot day. The service is efficient and friendly, never hovering. They are confident in their basics, and they should be. Good pizza, cold beer, and a river view. That's all they are trying to do here, and I respect it. Job done.

Highlights
Off the beaten path
Service that anticipates needs
Large, excellent portions
Unassuming but memorable

This is a place that knows what it is. The waitstaff does not just ask; they anticipate. The portions are aggressively large and thoroughly excellent. It's a bit off the main drag, which is fine by me. It forces the casuals to stay home. The pizza is solid, but it's the sides and service that make this a benchmark. They are unassuming, but they won me over. I was at the check, and they had already refilled my iced tea. A true professional operation.

Highlights
Friendly staff, welcoming vibe
Owner Meeko's dedicated, fun space
Great for kids' birthday parties
Toddler-approved game selection

There are arcades with pizza, and then there's this place. It is a kid's birthday party pressure cooker, but the pizza isn't the headliner for me. However, the owner, Meeko, has created a safe, dedicated space for the little ones to run wild. The staff is friendly, and the vibe is welcoming. This is a key place for parents to find a slice of sanity. My only note is to keep an eye on the high-value prizes. Toddlers are intense negotiators.

Highlights
Service slipped badly
Beer selection dwindled
Food quality declined
Overpriced for mediocrity
Atmosphere still decent

This place has taken a serious downturn. What was once a craft beer and food destination has become a study in management neglect. The beer list has thinned out in a way that suggests distributor issues rather than conscious curation. The food is now expensive for what it is and only sometimes hot when it arrives. The atmosphere is still decent, which is the only thing keeping the lights on. A frustrating visit because the bones are good. Binges on potential, fails on execution.

Sports fans' paradise
Kind, attentive service
Bold, cheesy pizza bowl
Generous condiment offers

This is a place for the sports fans among us. The staff clearly understands the assignment. You're going to want the pizza bowl. It’s a bold, cheesy, magnificent mess. It has no business going to a plate. The service is kind and attentive and will almost certainly keep the beer coming. It's a straightforward, solid, no-nonsense sports bar. Just don't expect nutritional information when you get the condiment cravings. Excellent, excellent value.

| Great happy hour selection and drinks |
| Strong value with tasty specials |

Back Bistro might be the smartest play in Folsom. We brought a big group here and the service handled us like we were a solo diner. The food is good, from the appetizers to the desserts. The happy hour specials offer a strong value and the drinks are well made. For the price point, they are providing stiff competition with the flavor-forward food and a check that doesn't induce panic. The staff never misses a beat. A reliable playbook executed well.

Highlights
Family-approved pies
Online ordering ease
Speedy, friendly service
Non-greasy, fresh toppings
Generous large salad portion

This is another one of those places that just works. The online ordering system is smooth, which is more important to me than it should be. The pizza is solid and never greasy. The fresh toppings and quick service make it my go-to on a weeknight. The large salad is big enough to be a family heirloom, easily feeding two people with half a pie left over. It's a family-approved win. They have the details down, like a good B-side on a single.

Early bird gets pastry
Cozy seating, shaded patio
Crepe focus, limited sandwiches
Cannoli filled, not soggy
Timing matters for quality

The early bird doesn't just get the worm here; they get the pastry. If you’re looking for a quick bite, this is not your place, but the coffee and crepes are a perfect morning when it’s too hot to go home. The gelato is good, but the cannoli was the real star of the show, crispy and not soggy. The concept requires you to time your visit well for the best selection, but it's a great excuse to be lazy in the morning. The patio seating is cozy.

Highlights
Great olive oil sampling
Loyal customers for decade
Local products beyond oils
Historic Folsom must-stop
Friendly staff, busy weekends

You can't eat a liquid, but you can put it on bread. More Than Olives is a staple for the pantry, but they do have a pizza-adjacent selection in the form of pizza down by the flour and oils. The olive oil sampling is a deeply underrated Saturday activity, and the local loyalty speaks volumes. The staff is friendly but the clock strikes busy on the weekends. It is a wealthy way to build a snack board for your own damn pizza. A solid stop.

Perfect spot in Folsom

Cià di Gelateria is a different kind of pursuit of perfection, but they do it with ice cream. The taste and quality of the gelato here is remarkable, a clean, beautiful setting for a scoop. Nick and Tess have built something focused and driven. It's the perfect spot to clear your head and recharge before the next slice. The service is friendly, the space is relaxing, and the flavors are clean. It's a mandatory stop for anyone with a sweet tooth and a plan.
